SLT-MOBITEL donates books to Malwana Maha Vidyalaya

SLT-MOBITEL, embarked on a book donation program with newly initiated ” Hithak Athnam Pothak Denna’ (

හිතක් ඇත්නම් පොතක් දෙන්න)” programme understanding the urgency of empowering future generations through knowledge and education. SLT-MOBITEL donated over 800 books to Malwana Maha Vidyalaya recently. Several senior officers from SLT head office and Kelaniya regional office attended the event. The principal, members of staff and some students were present to accept the books.

The objective of the book donation programme is to enhance students’ academic development in rural schools, improve information and communication technology (ICT) literacy skills and build a knowledgeable student community. SLT-MOBITEL firmly believes that this opportunity will inspire the students to read, expand their minds and develop a lifelong love of reading and learning.

This programme is conducted with the goal of encouraging children to explore the world of story-telling and the pleasure of reading. The books are to be used in the school library and include books on ICT, novels, children’s’ story books, books to improve English and other books related to their curriculum.These books were collected from SLT customers and employees through a book donation drive and also through personal donations from the SLT Kelaniya regional office staff members.
