SLSEA urges halt to using grid power for hoardings, etc.
By Ifham Nizam
The Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA) yesterday issued instructions to establishments, both government and private, to refrain from using electricity supplied by the national grid to illuminate signboards, neon and LED signage, digital and printed hoardings until further notice.
The SLSEA also requested them to refrain from using power from the national grid to illuminate building facades and all other forms of aesthetic illumination.
“We earnestly request you to save electricity during this crisis by strictly following these guidelines,” said SLEA Chairman, Eng. Ranjith Sepala
The SLSEA has pointed out that it is very difficult to maintain the electricity supply due to the prevailing fuel shortage.
Eng. Sepala electricity was still used by commercial establishments for advertising purposes as well as for aesthetic purposes, even during the peak demand periods, between 1800-2100 hrs.
