SL’s foreign reserves exceed USD five billion
Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves had exceeded the five billion US dollar mark, State Minister of Finance, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya told journalists in Colombo yesterday (15).
Siyambalapitiya said that in the recent past the Central Bank had bought large quantities of dollars from the domestic market as well.
Siyambalapitiya also mentioned that Sri Lanka, in 2022, limited the imports of over 1,000 goods, but now only restrictions on vehicle imports were in force.
The State Minister added that the government ould consider allowing vehicle imports, based on a list of priorities.
Siyambalapitiya went on to say that the government had already allowed the import of 750 vans and 250 buses required by the tourism industry. (RK)
