SLPP Gen Secy lambasts dissenting coalition partnerships

SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam yesterday lashed out at the coalition partners that had called for a lockdown last week.

He called upon President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to take stern action against them.

Kariyawasam said all those who had called for a lockdown had endorsed the government’s approach to pandemic control at last week’s Cabinet meeting. But, they had subsequently struck a discordant note, demanding that the country be closed.

Kariyawasam accused the SLPP constituents of enjoying all perks and privileges as ruling party members while making statements critical of the government to score political points.

Kariyawasam, however, did not name the SLPP constituents concerned.
