SLFP to launch new alliance

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would launch a political alliance in the first week of January, SLFP general Secretary, MP Dayasiri Jayasekera said.

The SLFP had formed a coalition of progressive parties to contest the coming local council elections, Dayasiri said. “On 31 December, the SLFP holds a religious event in Kataragama. This time a group of SLFP MPs who joined the government have booked the place where we usually hold the event. They have invited President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the chief guest for the event.”
