CoA to take up petition on May 2

Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC, has moved the Court of Appeal (CoA) to invalidate the ruling given by the Colombo District Court against him recently.

The CoA has ordered a petition filed seeking to invalidate the recent order preventing the Justice Minister from functioning as the Acting Chairman of SLFP to be taken up for consideration on May 02.

The Colombo District Court on 24 April issued an injunction preventing the appointment of Minister Wijeyadasa as the Acting Chairman of the SLFP.

The order issued in respect of the Justice Minister will remain in effect until May 08, 2024.

Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe was appointed as the Acting Chairman of the SLFP during an executive committee meeting held on April 21, by the party’s faction led by former President Maithripala Sirisena, who has been prohibited from functioning as the Chairman of the party, (SF)
