SLECIC behaving like Mafia, complains COPE
Despite directives by the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) on 07 March, 2022, the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECI) had not appointed an Internal Auditor or established an independent commission to investigate the financial misappropriation and allegations of fraud, and had not prepared a Corporate Plan congruent with the mission statement of the institute, COPE Chairman Professor Ranjith Bandara, said, expressing his displeasure at the fact that despite the repeated insistence no progress had been made.
The COPE ordered the SLECI to implement the above mentioned recommendations before 23 June, 2023.Noting that Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation had only 19 employees, the COPE Chairman further directed the Department of Management Services to fill the vacancies at the institution. There are 56 positions in the institute.
Prof. Bandara, Jagath Pushpakumara, Janaka Wakkumbura, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Nimal Lanza, Nalin Bandara Jayamajha, Chaminda Wijesiri, Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi, Sudarshana Denipitiya, Upul Mahendra Rajapaksha, M Rameshwaran, Rajika Wickramasinghe, Madhura Withanage, were present at the meeting.
