SLEA mourns the loss of its senior member Sarath Vidanagama
The Sri Lanka Economic Association (SLEA) is deeply saddened with the sudden demise of its senior member Sarath Vidanagama.
Vidanagama’s contribution to the nation crossed boundaries of the University of Colombo. He was an active Council Member of the Sri Lanka Economic Association for nearly four decades. He is leaving as the Chief Editor of the prestigious and peer reviewed Sri Lanka Economic Journal of SLEA.
Vidanagama is another shining gem mined and polished by the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya, His exceptional analytical, research and academic skills attracted him to the Department of Economics, University of Colombo, as a lecturer. After earning post-graduate qualification from the University of Stirling, Scotland, he returned to his motherland to continue his incomplete mission of teaching and research career. He was a leading economist and a legend.
The late Vidanagama’s remains lie at the A.F. Raymond parlor until the cremation takes place at the General Cemetery Kanatte, Borella today (30) at 4pm.
