SLC distributes cricket equipment to over 100 schools

The program, initiated under the ‘National Pathway’ of Sri Lanka Cricket, distributed equipment to schools playing U13, U15, U17, and U19 cricket.

Accordingly, 45 schools were offered senior and junior cricket bags, while 22 schools were given junior cricket bags. Schools playing girls cricket received junior cricket bags.

The distribution program, an island-wide initiative under the National Pathway program of Sri Lanka Cricket, was held at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo yesterday with the attendance of Harin Fernando, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Sagala Ratnayaka, Chief of Presidential Staff, Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Sujeeva Godaliyadda, Treasurer, Sri Lanka Cricket and Kamal Dharmasiri, Head of National Development Center of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Turf cutters were given to 38 schools, which have grounds with turf wickets and also play senior school cricket.

The ‘Cricket Bags,’ which were offered to the schools, consisted of cricket bats (two in senior bags and three in junior cricket bags), two helmets, three pairs of pads and batting gloves, as well as a pair of wicketkeeper’s glove and pads.

This is an annual program conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in order to promote the game across the country. SLC will also gift cricket equipment to cricket-playing schools island-wide in the coming months.

The cricket bags were handed over to schools in the Colombo district yesterday, while schools in other districts are to receive their cricket bags in due course.

The total investment for the latest grant stands at Rs. 84.3 million.
