SLANSHEI hosts Inaugural National Education Conference
The Sri Lanka Association of Non-State Higher Education Institutes (SLANSHEI) hosted the National Higher Education Conference focusing on the significant contribution by TNE (Transnational Education) to Higher education last Wednesday (28) at the Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.
SLANSHEI was established in 2016 through the initiative of a few leading private higher education institutes to address the needs and provide leadership to the non-state higher education sector in the country. Its strategic plan focuses on aspects vital to the non-state higher education sector such as expansion, improving the quality and standards, attracting increasing numbers of foreign students, enhancing the research profile and research output, and promoting internationalization.
British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Andrew Patrick, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha, Director British Council, Orlando Edwards, CEO, Skills & Education Group Paul Eeles, Dr. Anita Hayes from Keele University, UGC Chairman Prof Sampath Amaratunge and President of SLANSHEI Dr. Dayan Rajapakse were present.
The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) proudly facilitated the first-ever Sri Lankan delegation’s participation at Drupa 2024, the world’s largest trade fair for the printing industry and technology. Held after an eight-year hiatus, Drupa 2024 was a landmark event, marking significant advancements and opportunities in the global printing industry.
AHK Sri Lanka played a pivotal role in organising and supporting the delegation, which comprised 17 members from the Sri Lanka Association for Printers (SLAP), representing eight companies from the commercial, newspaper, stationery printing, and packaging industries. This pioneering effort by AHK Sri Lanka not only showcased the diverse capabilities of Sri Lanka’s printing sector but also facilitated vital bilateral discussions with key stakeholders from the German printing industry.
