SL mission in Israel in bid to secure visas for workers
By Gayan Samarasinghe
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Tel Aviv Nimal Bandara has requested Israel to issue fresh visas to Sri Lankans seeking to continue to work there.
Ambassador Bandara said that as their visas had expired they were unable to secure employment. The envoy said that Israel was making arrangements to accommodate them in the agricultural sector. The embassy was trying to finalise an arrangement in this regard amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Responding to an announcement made by the Sri Lankan mission, a large number of Sri Lankans have visited the embassy. According to Bandara, about 700 Sri Lankans will benefit from the embassy’s initiative.
