SJB wants Rishad in parliament

Chief Opposition Whip and Kandy District SJB MP Lakshman Kiriella yesterday called on Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to enable MP Rishad Bathiudeen who is in remand custody to come to Parliament.

Chief Opposition Whip Kiriella: MP Bathiudeen has a right to attend parliament. His rights should be protected and he should be enabled to come to Parliament. We hope the speaker will intervene to ensure that the MP’s rights are protected.

The Speaker said that he could do so if the MP concerned makes a request to him. (SI)
