SJB to move Supreme Court if govt. tries to postpone LG polls

The SJB would move the Supreme Court on 18 Jan., if the government resorted to dilatory tactics to deprive the people of their right to vote, Chief Opposition Whip and Kandy District MP Lakshman Kiriella said.

“We have reports that the government is planning to put off the local government elections again. We have experienced in the past some governments trying the same tactics. We will go before the Supreme Court on 18 Jan., if the government tries to postpone the polls again.
