Six suspects arrested over body found in travel bag

Seeduwa police on Tuesday night arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of a 36-year-old man, whose body was found hidden in a travelling bag abandoned on the banks of the Dandugam Oya, in Seeduwa, last Friday (15.)

The victim was a resident of Mahawewa.

Of the six suspects, three are members of the same family (father and his two sons) aged 50, 25 and 23. They are residents of Kimbulapitiya.

The others are hotel workers aged 30, 36 and 40.

They are residents of Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Puhulwella.

The victim had taken money from one of the suspects, promising to send him abroad. However, he had failed to do so and had refused to return the money. The suspects asked the victim to come to Kandana, murdered him and dumped his body near Dandugam Oya, according to the police.
