SIU ‘summons’ Pramodya following RR’s intervention
Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Selection Committee Pramodya Wickramasinghe has been asked to appear before the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for Preventing Sports Offences.
Sources said that the SIU sought to question Wickramasinghe after Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe called for a thorough inquiry into the Chief of Selectors’ recent declaration of a conspiracy to cause the downfall of the national cricket team. The former Sri Lanka fast bowler is expected to appear at the SIU on Nov 22.
Minister Ranasinghe issued a directive in this regard on Nov 16. Wickramasinghe is on record as having said that the conspiracy had been carried out at various levels over the past two and a half years.Commenting on the ban imposed by the ICC on SLC, the former Sri Lanka cap alleged that, too, was a part of the conspiracy.
