Claim of knowing who masterminded Easter Sunday terror:

The ongoing investigation into former President Maithripala Sirisena’s recent declaration that he was aware of the 2019 Easter Sunday mastermind has taken a new turn with his lawyers informing the Maligakanda Magistrate’s court of their client’s decision not to appear before the Magistrate as directed.

SLPP MP Sirisena has informed the court that it is not necessary for him to make a statement in court as he has already provided a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The SLFP leader informed the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court of his position through his legal counsels yesterday (03).

On 28 March, the Maligakanda Magistrate directed the former President to make a statement in court on April 4 pertaining to his disclosure.
