Singer Umaria granted bail after accident

Popular singer Umaria Sinhawansa, arrested by the Welikada police following a road accident at Rajagiriya on Saturday, was granted bail by Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage yesterday.

She was enlarged on Rs 500,000 surety bail and her driving licence was suspended and placed under the court’s custody.

Police spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said the accident had occurred when a car driven by Umaria collided with a three-wheeler near the Rajagiriya flyover around 5:30 pm on Saturday evening (31).

The three-wheeler driver (38) injured in the accident had been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, the Police Spokesman said.

Hospital sources said that his condition was serious.
