Singapore investors scout fisheries projects in Mannar
By Dinasena Ratugamage
A group of Singaporean investors are in Sri Lanka to inspect whether fisheries projects can be carried out in Mannar and other coastal areas.
The investors held a lengthy discussion with Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda and the Minister said that the government fully supported investment into fisheries. He asked the investors to prioritize those living near the factories when recruiting employees.
Minister Devananda said that there were some long standing issues in the Bay of Bengal. However, the government was committed to the safety of those projects.
