Silverwood tipped to take over as Sri Lanka coach
Former England coach Chris Silverwood is tipped to take over as Sri Lanka’s Head Coach.
The former Yorkshire fast bowler has an impressive record as coach having guided Essex to their first County Championship in 25 years. He was England coach when Sri Lanka were blanked 2-0 in Galle last year. Silverwood was sacked as England coach after their dismal performance in the Ashes recently. Former captain Mahela Jayawardene was put in charge to headhunt a coach and after failing to secure the services of Paul Farbrace, he’s supposed to have settled in for Silverwood. SLC has started negotiations with Silverwood and the Cricket Advisory Committee is expected to give the green light today.
The 47-year-old is expected to take over before the Bangladesh tour in May.
