SI killed in crash while giving chase to suspicious truck

A police officer was killed yesterday morning when his car crashed into the clock tower at Anamaduwa while giving chase to a vehicle that was illegally transporting cattle, police said.

 Sub Inspector Ajith Kumara (38,) who was killed in the accident was the traffic OIC of the Anamaduwa Police.

 The OIC of the anti-vice division who was also in the vehicle was injured during the accident. Initial investigations indicate that the officer had lost control of the vehicle while speeding to overtake the truck.
