Shooting incident at hotel under police surveillance

Wellawatte police are probing A shooting incident at a hotel on Marine Drive around 6.50 am yesterday.

Two armed persons arrived on a motorcycle shot at the Pearl Beach hotel and fled the scene.

 No one was injured, but the canopy fixed to the hotel wall was damaged by the shooting.

 Police said that they were getting ready to file a case against this hotel under the provisions of the money laundering act and they suspect that the shooting was a tactic to divert the focus of investigations.

Police recovered nine empty bullet casings of a T-56 assault rifle from the scene after the firing incident.
