St. Peter’s fought back strongly to take first innings advantage against Dharmaraja as Shennon Rodrigo picked up six wickets to restrict the team from Kandy to 148 runs on day one of the Under 19 Division I Tier B tournament quarter-final at Reid Avenue.

After being bowled out for 179 runs, left arm spinner’s six wicket haul (for 39 runs) helped Petes keep alive hopes of earning Tier ‘A’ promotion. A team need to reach the final of the Tier ‘B’ competition if they are to earn promotion to Tier ‘A’ tournament.

For Dharmaraja, Lakvin Abeysinghe waged a lone battle top scoring with 80 runs.

Put to bat, Oween Salgago and captain Vishen Helambage scored 30s, while Dilana Damsara, Rodrigo and Lashmika Perera contributed with 20s.
