Shennon spins Petes to seventh win

Left-arm spinner Shennon Rodrigo picked up four wickets to complete 20 wickets for the tournament as St. Peter’s cruised to their seventh straight victory in the Under 19 Division I Limited Overs tournament at Moratuwa on Thursday.  Rodrigo (8.4-1-16-4), skipper Nimuthu Gunawardena and Vishen Halambage joined to restrict Moratu Vidyalaya to 141 runs to record 64 runs victory as they continued their unbeaten run.

In the other matches played yesterday, Mahanama, St. Joseph’s, Thurstan and Mahinda emerged victorious.  On a day notable for low scoring matches, Dinusha Peiris (Trinity- 56), Dinura Kalupahana (Mahinda- 77), and Hiran Jayasundara (St. Joseph’s- 61) scored half centuries for their respective schools. Dinusha’s knock helped Trinity post 171 for nine wickets after being wobbling at 17 for four wickets at one stage against Mahanama.
