Shenal wins as Nestomalt Cycling Challenge provides positive restart
Sri Lanka Ports Authority’s Shenal Chamod de Silva won the Under 23 men’s 40 km race of the Nestomalt Cycling Challenge 2021, successfully held at Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo on Sunday.
Supun Piumal of Sri Lanka Navy and Dinesh Chameera of Sri Lanka Police finished second and third respectively.
“Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there have been little to no platforms for athletes to compete and develop. As a brand that has always supported physical activity, we were proud to join hands with the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka to power the ambitions of our talented cyclists and provide them an opportunity to excel in the sport they love,” said Ruwan Welikala, Nestlé’s Vice President – Dairy.

Held under strict Health Ministry guidelines to ensure participants’ safety, this event helped recommence sporting activities in the country which were on hold due to the pandemic. It was also a great platform for professional cyclists aspiring to compete at national and international level to showcase their talent, grit, and sportsmanship.
The event comprised of seven races, which saw fierce competition from the participants.
