Pakistan drove home their advantage in the second and final Test against Sri Lanka on the third day at Colombo with opener Abdullah Shafique leading the way. His maiden double ton led the batting effort that also saw a century from Agha Salman and fifty from Saud Shakeel as the visitors kept piling on the misery on Sri Lanka.

The hosts didn’t help themselves with a lethargic bowling performance as boundaries were leaked far too frequently. The surface is assisting spin a fraction but the discipline was missing from Sri Lanka’s bowlers. Even the seamers weren’t far behind in terms of inaccuracy as Shafique and co made merry. The scoring rate for Pakistan was brisk as they managed to add over 400 runs in the day.

Brief scores:

Pakistan 563/5 (Abdullah Shafique 201, Agha Salman 132*; Asitha Fernando 3/133) lead Sri Lanka 166 (Dhananjaya de Silva 57; Abrar Ahmed 4/69) by 397 runs.
