Senuka hammers blistering knock as Mahinda complete quarter-final line up

Senuka Dangamuwa hammered a blistering half century to lead Mahinda College to the quarter finals of the Under 17 Division I cricket tournament as his team beat Revata College by five wickets in the knockout match played at Galle on Friday.

Dangamuwa clobbered 11 fours and four sixes in his knock of 75 runs which came in 36 balls. He scored his half century (50 ) off 20 balls (8 X 4s, 3 X 6s) as Mahinda secured the quarter-final berth against Trinity. They reached a target of 192 runs with many overs to spare.

Dangamuwa also put on a fifth wicket stand of 95 runs with Vinupa Nethmina, who remained unbeaten on 50. His 50 came in 87 balls. Batting first Revata posted 191 runs thanks largely to a knock of 80 runs made by Shehan Madusanka. Kaveen Rukshan was the main tormentor picking up four wickets for 26 runs. With yesterday’s victory Mahinda College complete the quarter-final line up of the Inter School Under 17 Division I tournament. The dates of the quarter-finals are yet to be decided.
