Semi-finalists found in Under-18 boys’ singles

Janali Manamperi and Savini Jayasuriya won the women’s doubles title, Movindi Fernando clinched the Under-12 girls’ singles crown and the Under-18 boys’ singles semi-finalists were found at the Clay Court Nationals before the tournament took a break for the festive season.

Manamperi and Jayasuriya beat Zeenath Zihar and Saajida Razick 6-2, 7-5 for their title.

The Newstead Girls’ School, Negombo player Movindi Fernando scored 6-2, 7-5 to beat the number one ranked Githmi Fernando in the final.

In the Under-14 girls’ singles, Ruvi Lewkebandara and Oneli Samarawickrama advanced to the final as they beat Arushi Thomas (6-4, 1-6, 10-8) and Oneli de Silva (6-2, 6-3) respectively in the semi-finals.

In the Under-18 boys’ singles, number one ranked Thehan Wijemanne, Vichinthya Nilaweera, Dilvan herath and Rakesh Ratnasingham advanced to the semi-finals.

Results of the Under-18 boys’ quarter-finals

Thehan Wijemanne beat Hasal Ahangama 7-5, 6-4

Dilvan Herat beat Zaidh Zihar 6-0, 6-1

Vichinthaya Nilaweera beat Matheesha Nettasinghe 6-1, 7-5

Rakesh Ratnasingham beat Hesara Kuruppu 6-3, 6-1
