The Colombo Fort Magistrate Court yesterday (27) further remanded self-styled ‘prophet’ Jerome Fernando till January 3, 2014.

Pastor Jerome, arrested over derogatory statements targeting Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism, was produced before the court again, from remand custody, yesterday morning.

He was first remanded on Dec 01 following his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) about 48 hours after he returned to the country.

Pastor Fernando had made his first appearance at the CID on 30 November and provided a statement for around eight hours. He was arrested on the following day when he reported to the CID to provide another statement.

Fernando flew out to Singapore on 14 May, two days before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court banned his foreign travels.
