Security increased after snatching of five gold chains at Kovil festival

Police have increased security at the Vallipuram Aalvar Kovil, Point Pedro, since an incident where five gold chains were snatched on Wednesday on the opening day of its annual festival, which attracts a large number of devotees. The robberies took place during the chariot festival. The Kovil festival will go on for 21 days.

The Point Pedro police said criminal activities had increased during kovil festivals in recent years.
