Sarangi advances to Commonwealth Games long jump final

Long jumper Sarangi Silva advanced to the women’s long jump final round with a feat of 6.42 metres on day eight of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Friday.

Sarangi made jumps of 6.42 metres and 6.20 metres in her first two attempts to secure the passage to the final round. At the end of the qualifying rounds, she was ranked tenth in a field of 18 athletes. While Ghana’s Deborah Acquah led the field with a feat of 6.85 metres, Australia’s Brooke Buschkuehl was in the second place with a jump of 6.84 metres.
