Sapugaskanda refinery to resume operations on 26 Jan.
The Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery would recommence operations on 26 January, Secretary to the Ministry of Energy, K. D. R. Volga said yesterday.
She said that a ship carrying crude oil would reach Sri Lanka on 23 January. The Refinery could resume operations with that shipment.
The refinery was temporarily closed on 03 January for want of crude oil.
Meanwhile, former Senior Deputy General Manager and Acting Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Cyril Suduwella said last week that the refinery should not be shut down and restarted from time to time as such interruptions might damage its operating systems. (RK)
