Sajith takes a step back
For once our political leaders have shown leadership qualities. Sajith has to be praised and garlanded for taking a step back and conceding the the ticket to Dullas to ensure a better chance of dethroning the acting incumbent. It was a patriotic and selfless act rarely seen among politicians today. If we can elect a president from among our MPs without rancor, dissent and unity of purpose, we have certainly come of age.
We have reached the depths of despair with no money, no friends, no gas and no petrol. We only have each other. So unity is the need of the hour. United we stand and divided we fall. As this is written, we don’t know what kind of fruit Sajith’s noble gesture will bear. Ours is not to see the future. We can only hope good actions will give good results.
This reminds me of something I read during India’s struggle for Independence. Jinnah who fought side by side with Gandhi and Nehru to win independence, made a bid for the premiership and Nehru, the legitimate aspirant and true patriot, agreed to step aside. The Congress Party howled and the protest prevailed. The rest is history.Sajith, you have shown the way.
