“I’m ready to debate anyone in parliament”

President Ranil Wickremesinghe Thursday said that Opposition and SJB leader Sajith Premadasa should have accepted the challenge by JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake for a debate.

“Anura has set a May 20 deadline. Sajith has not accepted it. He should have accepted and faced the debate,” the president told a meeting with a group of journalists at the presidential secretariat on Thursday..

Turning down a request from by rhe Daily Mirror for a debate it was planning to organize, the president said: “Anyone can come to parliament and debate with me. I am there all the time and ready for any debate.”
