Sajith demands tough action against those targeting Lankans with pyramid scams 

SJB and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday called on the government to take stringent action against those engaging in pyramid scams in Sri Lanka.

Premadasa said that ‘OnmaxDT’, a private firm was involved in a pyramid fraud of US$ 100 million in Sri Lanka.

‘OnmaxDT’ is among nine entities banned by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in August 2023 for engaging in pyramid schemes, Premadasa said, adding that a large number of people had become victims.

Premadasa said that the government must intervene and take stringent action. “Just as the government has taken action against online lending companies in the past, action should also be taken against ‘OnmaxDT’,” he said.
