Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has alleged that the government MPs are all out to prevent the Opposition from raising contentious issues in Parliament.

Premadasa has claimed that a group of government MPs have been given the task of causing disruptions when the Opposition MPs speak. That group has accused the Opposition MPs of not adhering to the day’s agenda.

Premadasa said so at a public function at the Narandeniya Sri Nagawanaramaya over the weekend.

Some government MPs were trying to suppress the Opposition’s right to expose corruption, Premadasa said, adding that the Rajapaksa-Wickremesinghe administration had contracted a private company to print driving licences. It had previously handed over the task to the military, he said.

Then all of a sudden, the government, having accused the military of making false claims, handed over the job to the company that had printed driving licences prevsiously, MP Premadasa said. Alleging that the entire process was corrupt. (SF)
