Sachintha anchors Dharmaraja

Opening batsman Sachintha Dissanayaka anchored the Dharmaraja batting lineup for 66 overs, Lahiru Amarasekara took four wickets for St. Joseph’s, and Richmond took command against St. Servatius’ on an intriguing first day of the Under 19 cricket encounters started on Thursday.

Dissanayake batted for three sessions to anchor the Dharmaraja batting lineup as he top-scored with 81 runs to help them post 194 runs against Maliyadeva. He faced 190 balls and scored six fours and a six in his knock at Kurunegala.

At Darley Road, Lahiru Amarasekara was the pick of the bowlers for St. Joseph’s as they contained Maris Stella to 223 runs. For Maris Stella, late order batsman Eveen Kalhara scored an unbeaten 70 (8x4s, 1x6s) for them to reach their eventual total.

Richmond dominated the match against St. Servatius’ as they restricted the home team to 67 for seven wickets at stumps after posting 264 for seven wickets declared at the Uyanwatta Stadium.
