S. Thomas’ host T20 triangular to celebrate centenary of Big Club Grounds
The iconic Big Club Ground at S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia that is home to Thomian Athletics, Cricket, Football, Hockey and Rugby, was turfed in 1924 and was dedicated as a memorial to those Thomians who laid down their lives in the World War I. This year it is 100 years old.
As part of the centenary celebrations the new sports pavilion and refurbished indoor nets at S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia will be declared open by Kumar Boralessa at 8:30 am. today.
The opening ceremony will be followed by a Triangular T20 Cricket Tournament between STCML, Royal College and Trinity College for the Anura Tennekoon Trophy. The finals of the tournament will be on Wednesday (13) followed by the awards ceremony at 5:00 pm for which the Chief Guest will be Anura Tennekoon.
