Ryan hammers second double century

Sri Lanka Under 19 dropout Ryan Fernando scored his second double century of the season to send a strong message to selectors as S. Thomas’ took major honours against Ananda in their Traditional Under 19 encounter which ended in a draw at the SSC ground on Thursday.Fernando who was unbeaten on 73 overnight went on to post 200 runs as the Thomians added 220 runs to the overnight total for the loss of one wicket.

Fernando scored 31 fours and two sixes in his knock which came in 176 balls.In reply to Ananda’s 120 runs, the Thomians made 380 for seven wickets declared. Charuka Peiris who took five wickets was unbeaten on 79.In their second essay Ananda were 222 for three wickets at close.Nethma Karunaratne was unbeaten on 127 runs. He reached 1000 runs for the season with his century.
