RW promises to extend SSC’s 99-year lease

President Ranil Wickremesinghe Thursday promised to initiate action on renewing the 99-year lease of government land to the Singhalese Sports Club for a further 99-year period. The present lease has 35 years to run.

The president and Mrs. Wickremesinghe were participating at the SSC’s 125th anniversary celebrations. He instructed Sports Minister Harin Fernando to initiate action in this regard.

SSC President IS de Silva requested the president to make outright grants to sports clubs now occupying government land on long lease.
