Ruvi, Lithum, Ransath and Sandaru win titles

105th Colombo Championships

Ruvi Lewkebandara, Lithum Jayabandu and doubles pair Ransath Peiris and Sandaru Guruge won their respective age group finals of the 105th Colombo Championships at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association clay courts on Thursday.

Ruvi Lewkebandara beat Dinara de Silva 6-2, 6-1 to clinch the Under-14 girls’ singles title.

Jayabandu overcame a first set defeat to win the Under-12 boys’ singles title as he beat Methuka Wickramasinghe 2-6, 6-2, 10-6.

In the Under-14 boys’ doubles final Ransath Peiris and Sandaru Guruge beat S. Usgodaarachchi and Tharuk Marasinghe 6-1, 7-6.

In the Under-18 boys’ singles Thehan Wijemanne and Kiran Vairavanathan advanced to the semi finals. While Wijemanne beat Zaidh Zihar 7-5, 6-3, Vairavanathan beat R. Ratnasingham 6-1, 6-0.

In today’s Under-18 girls’ singles semi-finals Oneli Perera is set to meet Hasali Gajaba and Saneshi Willoraarachchi will encounter Vishmi Serasinghe. (RF)
