Rupees two million for each Grama Niladhari Division for road development
Steps have been taken to provide Rs. 2 million to each Grama Niladhari Division for road development under the “Conversation with the Village, Return to the Village with Work” program, implementing the “Vision of Prosperity” policy presented by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Accordingly, a discussion was held at the ministry under the patronage of Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando and State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure Nimal Lansa to brief the relevant political leaders and government officials on the implementation of the program in the Galle District.
Steps have been taken to implement this program on the instructions of the Head of the Presidential Special Task Force for economic revival and poverty eradication Basil Rajapaksa, with a view to developing rural infrastructure and uplifting the rural economy.
Under this, arrangements have been made to provide Rs. 2 million to each of the 14,022 Grama Niladhari Divisions. Accordingly, it has been instructed to activate every Grama Niladhari Division less than 1 km or two of the identified roads at the request of the people before the end of April.
This program is implemented jointly by the Ministry of Highways and State Ministry of Rural Roads and other Infrastructure.
Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Plantation Industries, Members of Parliament, Shan Wijelal de Silva, Chandima Weerakkody, Geetha Kumarasinghe, Chairpersons of the Pradeshiya Sabhas, RWR Pemasiri, Secretary to the Ministry of Highways, Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake, Secretary to the State Ministry divisional secretaries were present.
