Rupee expected to strengthen against US dollar soon by big margin: Govt.

The government expected the rupee to strengthen against the US dollar in the near future, Cabinet spokesman Bandula Gunawardena told reporters on Tuesday (13).

Addressing the media, Gunawardena said the dollar had appreciated to Rs. 400 rupees in 2022, during the height of the economic crisis.

However, the US dollar had dropped to Rs 314 rupees, he said.

Soon, the dollar will drop further to about Rs 280 , the Minister added.
