Rs 70mn misappropriation: Ex-LPL team owner remanded

Fort Additional Magistrate Pavitra Pathiraja yesterday (22) remanded the Chairman of Aura Lanka Viranjith Thambugala arrested and produced before the court over Rs 70 mn fraud.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took him to custody yesterday. Thambugala is the Chairman of Aura Lanka Group of Companies and the former owner of the ‘Dambulla Aura’ team in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

The Magistrate ordered the businessman remanded till May 27 pending investigations.
