Royal Thai Embassy in the spotlight…
The Embassy had two booths, at the Exhibition Hall, at Temple Trees; the first Booth displayed photos of sacred, as well as touristic places, which show resemblance and distinctive characteristics of both Sri Lanka and Thailand, while the second booth featured the Embassy’s team conducting a quiz competition on Sri Lanka-Thailand Buddhist Diplomacy, in the English medium.
High school students from eight schools – Royal College, Ananda College, Nalanda College, Thurstan College, Visakha Vidyalaya, Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya and Museaus College – participated.
The quiz programme was moderated by Dr. George I. H. Cooke and held on two days, 5th and 6th, May, with the finals taking place on 7th May.
Four teams made it to the final round – Ananda College, Thurstan College, Nalanda College and Devi Balika Vidyalaya – with Nalanda emerging champions, Ananda in 2nd place, Thurstan 3rd, and Devi Balika 4th.
All the participants received cash prizes, and certificates, from the Ambassador of the Royal Thai Embassy, in Colombo, Poj Harnpol.
The winners, Nalanda College received Rs. 30,000, 2nd place Ananda College Rs 20,000, and 3rd place Thurstan and 4th place Devi Balika each received Rs. 10,000.
