Royal College retained the E.F.C. Perera Trophy with a 3-2 win over arch-rivals S. Thomas’ College in the annual Royal-Thomian Tennis encounter played at the P. Nagendran Tennis Complex, Reid Avenue.

Royal College retained the E.F.C. Perera Trophy with a 3-2 victory over arch-rivals S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia at the annual Royal-Thomian Tennis encounter held at the P. Nagendran Tennis Complex, Reid Avenue.

Royal won one singles encounter and two doubles matches to beat Thomians.

In the doubles, Methvan Wijemanne and Ryan Sugathadasa beat Wenuka Kithnula and Reshane Dwight 9-5, while Nethwin Dharmaratne and Chenul Wickramasinghe beat Mayank Perera and Navidu Herath 9-0.

For the Thomians, Zaidh Zihar and Aahil Kaleel won the first and second singles matches to earn them points. Thilina Dissanayake’s 9-4 win over Meneshka Ratnasingham stood in good stead as the Royalists retained the Trophy with a 3-2 win.

In the Under 15 encounter Royal won 3-0, while in the Under 13 tie S. Thomas’ triumphed 3-2.
