Royal College Group of 2004 marks 20 years of excellence with grand anniversary celebration and community initiatives

Royal College Group of 2004 last week announced the celebration of their 20 years of service to their alma mater.Addressing a press conference held at the Royal College Union Skill Center in Colombo, President of Royal College Group of 2004 (RCG004), Chameera Laknatha said that as a beacon of excellence in the alumni community, RCG04 is not only dedicated to preserving the esteemed standards of Royal College but also exudes a vibrant spirit of togetherness.

“In nearly twenty years of rich history, RCG 04 has been a driving force in enhancing the school’s legacy through thoughtfully planned events, fostering meaningful connections among classmates, and actively contributing to projects that uplift the school’s facilities, sports programs, and socially responsible initiatives. The upcoming celebration marks not just an anniversary but a testament to the enduring legacy and shared commitment of RCG04 to the continued success of Royal College,” he said.

Laknatha said that RCG04 would host an exclusive batch tent during the revered 145th Royal – Thomian Cricket Encounter (Battle of the Blues), scheduled to be held on 7, 8, and 9 March at the SSC Grounds. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the RCG04 will introduce a series of initiatives aimed at contributing goods and services valued at Rs 20 lakhs to Royal College Colombo. The group will collaborate with healthcare professionals to organize a health camp at Royal College, providing students with essential health services, screenings, and wellness consultations.

There will be a Badminton Consultation and Training session led by Niluka Karunarathna, a three-time Olympian and Olympic captain, and the Royal Crown of 2001 and Royal College Badminton Captain of 2003. Renowned leadership expert, LienKay Coaching, would conduct an exclusive workshop tailored for school captains, focusing on honing leadership skills and fostering personal and team development. Arrangements are being made by the group to donate laptops to underprivileged students, to distribute 1,000 meals packs among underprivileged communities by the Robin Hood Army Collaboration, an athlete programme on Injury prevention and nutrition in collaboration with the Mercantile Athletics Federations Sri Lanka and a medical screening and nutrition programme for the college’s Soccer Squad.
