Rosy demands 500 million from Pushpika
“False accusation implies she was instrumental in changing the final result”
Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake has demanded 500 million rupees in damages from Pushpika de Silva, who won the Mrs. Sri Lanka title last year in a backlash of the rumpus that marred the event.
Senanayake, in a letter of demand sent through her lawyers to Pushpika de Silva, states that the remarks expressed by the local pageant winner are false accusations and implies that she was instrumental in changing the final results at the contest.
The local pageant winner, in a recent Youtube interview titled ‘Truth with Chamuditha’, had said she could have won the Mrs. World title if the mayor had not attended the pageant held last month.
Senanayake denying the allegation, demanded Pushpika de Silva to pay 500 million rupees in damages, issue a public apology, and to ensure that such statements are not repeated.
The lawyers’ letter said: “We are instructed to state that you made false accusations that had our client not come for the Mrs. World Pageant held in January 2022, that you would have been crowned Mrs World. You insinuated and/or implied that our client was instrumental and/or responsible in changing the final results at the pageant and thereby causing your downgraded to the top six instead of winning the crown.
“You have made baseless, unfounded and false allegations against our client for unfortunate events that you had to encounter. You have also falsely alleged that our cient was not invited to the Mrs World Pageant when she had an official invitation from Mrs World Inc. Our client refutes all the above allegations and lies that have caused severe loss to her reputation and goodwill.
We are further instructed that the said interview was telecasted on YouTube and the false statements have been seen by numerous people, both in Sri Lanka and overseas.
The said false statements by you suggests and/or alleges that our client has made negative remarks about you to at least one or more of the panel of leading to you losing the crown at the last moment. The said statements gave the appearance that our client had influenced the decision of the panel of judges, so that she continues to be the only Mrs World from Sri Lanka.
