Rishma anchors Joes to safety

Rishma Amarasinghe anchored the tail for St. Joseph’s to post 217 for nine wickets declared against Ananda before the traditional Under 19 cricket encounter ended in a no decision at Ananda Mawatha on Tuesday.

With the wet ground conditions preventing play in the morning session the match was already heading for a no decision when Amarasinghe decided to anchor the tail. He remained unbeaten on 72 runs.

In their essay Ananda were 63 for one wicket at stumps.

It was a notable recovery by the Joes who were 103 for six wickets at one stage.

Meanwhile, S. Thomas’ were helped by Dineth Goonewardene who top scored with 62 runs to post 217 runs against Mahinda on day one in their traditional match at SSC ground.
