Respected sports administrator Air Commodore Ananda Samarakoon is no more

A distinguished Officer and a gentleman and a respected sports administrator Retired Air Commodore Ananada Samarakoon passed away on Saturday, the 23rd March 2024.Air Commodore Ananda Samarakoon held number of positions in Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Volleyball Committee prior to being appointed as its Chairman. He functioned as the Chef de Mission of Sri Lanka Contingent at the 3rd South Asian Games held in Calcutta, India in 1987. He was a Vice President of Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation from 1987 to 1989 and did a yeoman service to uplift the game of volleyball in the country. He retired as the Director Aeronautical Engineering in the SLAF after a distinguished career spanning over three decades.

The remains lie at 118/18 New Airport Road, Ratmalana until 8:30 am on Monday, March 25th. The cremation will take place at the General Cemetery, Mount Lavinia, on Monday, March 25th, at 5:00 pm with full Air Force honours…
