Residents of Frankfurt Place overwhelmed by construction of large apartment complex

Residents of Frankfurt Place, Bambalapitiya, complain that they are being greatly inconvenienced by the construction of a large apartment complex there.The residents claim that the road at Frankfurt Place is narrow and for the past few months large vehicles and construction equipment have taken up most of the road.

The construction activities commence around 7 am and go on till about 11 in the night, residents complain.

Although Frankfurt Place is a residential area, the authorities have colluded with big businesses and authorised the construction of large buildings that greatly inconvenience those who live there, residents complain.

The waste from the construction site is also affecting the health of the residents there.

Meanwhile, environmentalist Sajeewa Chamikara said that unplanned constructions were a serious problem in major cities in the country. In Colombo, successive governments have authorised the construction of huge buildings.
